U18AA Jr.Lakers Golden in Toronto
The U18AA Junior Lakers headed south this weekend to take part in the Toronto Leaside Wildcats March Match Up tournament.
The U18AA team stormed out to a 4-1 win on Friday afternoon as they took on Sault Ste.Marie in game one, later that same day the Junior Lakers skated to a 2-0 win over the Carleton Place Cyclones.
On Saturday the U18AA Jr.Lakers found themselves facing a familiar opponent the host Toronto Leaside Wildcats. The game was back and forth with the Junior Lakers dropping the contest with 2 seconds remaining in the game.
On Saturday evening the Lakers earned a 3-1 win over the Niagara Rapids to finish second overall in group play. They would find themselves in the semi-finals on Sunday morning against the Rapids.
Sunday morning proved to be much of the same as the Lakers earned a 4-1 semi-final victory to advance to the championship game against the host team once again.
In the championship game the first period ended and the score was still deadlocked at 0. The Lakers then took a 2-1 lead heading into the second intermission. The third period was scoreless, as the Lakers held on to a 2-1 win to return to North Bay as the Toronto Leaside Wildcats March Match Up tournament champions.
